Avengers And Other Major Titles Coming To Amazon Streaming
Amazon struck a deal with Epix that will add The Avengers, Iron Man 2, The Hunger Games, and thousands of other titles to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video streaming service. EPIX and Amazon reached a multi-year agreement that gives Amazon streaming rights to new releases as well as classic and original titles. Bill Carr, Vice President of Video and Music at Amazon said “We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars to expand the Prime Instant Video library for our customers. We have now more than doubled this selection of movies and TV episodes to over 25,000 titles in just under a year,” Mark Greenberg, President and CEO of EPIX, noted “This partnership is yet another great example of EPIX’s ability to broaden our reach through a digital platform, underscoring the incredible value of the EPIX content offering.”
Netflix had an agreement with Epix that gave them exclusive streaming rights for their content. The exclusive arrangement expired in August. Netflix still has non-exclusive rights for Epix programs through the middle of next year. But now other providers, like Amazon can hook up with Epix as well.
