Gaikai Cloud Based Game Service Goes Live
Streaming game service, Gaikai, is now live as a public beta. According to their website:
“Gaikai is a cloud-based gaming technology that allows users to play major PC and console games like Call Of Duty or World Of Warcraft instantly, with one click. No download or install required.” However, this is not a subscription service like OnLive. Gaikai’s aim is to give players the opportunity to try a game, within their browser, before making a purchase: “Right at the point-of-sale, Gaikai can allow the user to try the game or app on the spot. We turn “I’m not sure” into “I want it now.”
Gaikai says that they are able to run “premium 3D games” on any device that has a standard browser with flash or java plugins installed.
